JOSEF DOBROVSKÝ MUSEUM

The castle Starý zámek in Chudenice houses a large exhibition dedicated to works by Josef Dobrovský and his life, and a permanent exhibition tracing the Czernin family’s history. Staying in the castle as his friend Count Eugen Czernin’s guest, Dobrovský also raised the Count’s children. The exhibition has been put together from the material coming from the MCL collections by the MCL Literary Archive curator, Yvetta Dörflová. The castle museum also exhibits a permanent exhibition devoted to the history of Chudenice, and to great figures who have ties to this site. The material for exhibition boards arranged by Yvetta Dörflová to illustrate works by and lives of, e.g., K.S. Amerling and his wife; Božena Němcová’s friend Vilém Dušan Lambl, his brothers and sisters; Josef Franta Šumavský; also comes from the MCL collections.
